Fall Out Boy Songs
Band BioGood friends Pete Wentz and Joe Trohman got
together with the idea of forming a band. It wasn't long
before Patrick Stump joined, after a chance meeting with Joe at a Borders Bookstore. Patrick auditioned as a drummer, but on hearing his fabulous voice, the others made the no-brainer decision of giving him lead vocals. The nascent band began with small performances around Illinois. For the first two shows the band had no name - at the end of the second the audience was asked to suggest one. Someone yelled out 'Fallout Boy', one of the characters in the Simpsons. The name stuck.
FOB's first release, in 2002, was the EP I>Split.
They followed this up with a long EP, Fall Out Boy's
Evening Out with Your Girlfriend. In the year that
followed, the band's first drummer left to be replaced by Andy Hurley.
The bands potential was spotted by the independent label Fueled By Ramen, who quickly signed up the talented group. The summer of 2003 saw the release of their first proper album, called Take This to Your Grave. The disc included two songs which achieved good radio airplay - Grand Theft Autum and Saturday
Fall Out Boy were then contracted by the major label Island Records. Their second album From Under the Cork Tree came out in 2005. It shot to the top of the charts, eventually achieving platinum status in the US. Though the meteoric rise of the group stuttered when Wentz overdosed on a sedative, in a failed attempted-suicide.
The band's third album Infinity on High was
released in 2007. The first single off from the record
This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race went straight to #1 on the US Hot 100, and #2 in the UK chart. To promote the album the band went of a tour with a difference - venues included some uncharted waters (for US bands) such as Russia, Uganda, and the Phillippines.
