Saving Abel

Jared Weeks and Jason Null come from the small town of Corinth, Mississippi. In 2004 the two were playing in separate local bands. At a chance meeting they hit it off straight away, and together started to write new material.

Early in 2005, the producer Skid Mills offered the pair a recording slot at the 747 Studios in Memphis, to cut an EP. To beef up their sound, Scott Bartlett (guitar), Daniel Dwight (bass) and Blake Dixon (drums) were recruited. (Eric Taylor was soon to replace Dwight on bass). Jason Null came up with the name Saving Abel for the newly formed band. His inspiration was the story of Cain and Abel from the book of Genesis in the Old Testament.

The band's self-titled EP was released in 2006. The songs were laden with sexual innuendos and references - explicit lyrics have become a trademark of the Saving Abel. The band's first live show was in March 2006. Their energetic guitar-driven music was an instant hit with audiences, and the EP sold strongly at their performances.

The EP eventually found its way to the desk of a Virgin Records boss, who recognising the band's promise, signed the band to the label. Saving Abel released their debut self-titled album early in 2008. The album featured some material from their earlier EP, such as the tracks 18 Days and Beautiful You plus the addition of newly composed tracks such as Addicted and New Tattoo. Addicted, a steamy song of a red-hot relationship went on to reach #2 in the rock singles charts. Following the release of the album the band embarked on their first nationwide tour.
