The Kooks
Band BioLuke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Max Rafferty, and Paul Garred met at Brighton Music College in the early 2000s. Together they formed a band, naming it after a track on David Bowie's album Hunky Dory. After two years of playing the local club circuit they landed a contract with Virgin records. The first songs released were singles, Eddie's Gun and Sofa Song. Next came You Don't Love Me, which became the band's first top 20 UK hit.
The Kooks' debut full-length album arrived early in 2006. Titled Inside In/Inside Out, the album is packed with soaring Britpop melodies. A series of successful singles came off the album, including Naive, a top 5 hit. The band's first tour of the US followed, playing to enthusiastic audiences across the States.
The band's second studio album Konk came out in 2008. The band managed to avoid that difficult second-album syndrome, revealing a strong, highly enjoyable LP. The album's release coincided with a change in the band line-up - Max Rafferty (on bass) was replaced by Dan Logan The first single from the album to hit the airwaves was Always Where I Need To Be, which reached top 5 on the UK charts (top 30 US).
