Red Sand Beach, Maui

Description

A trecherous trail on slippery pine needles around one of the headlands of Kaihalulu bay leads to Red Sand Beach. Here an improbable wall of rocks offers some protection for the beach from the ocean. The ocean continually crashes against and through this wall, making a spectacular sight. Also worth a mention are the great lodges at waianapanapa state park - a great get-away-from-it-all centre for visiting this area - see the second link.
