Matthew McConaughey

Bio

Matthew is a bit of a rarity in Hollywood. Neither of his parents are connected to film or drama. Matthew's father ran an oil-field supplies company, and his mother was a substitute teacher. After graduating from High school, Matthew spent a year in Australia as an exchange student, with plans to study law at Dallas University. When he returned home, his father suggested the University of Austin (about $10,000 a year cheaper), and with the change of university Matthew decided upon a change in career direction, opting to study Media. During his course, a chance meeting with a casting director in an Austin bar landed him his first ever part in Dazed and Confused (1993).

The parts Matthew found quickly went from bit-player in small movies, to lead-character in big budget, major studio movies. His filmography includes a host of blockbusters, including Lone Start (1996), A Time to Kill (1996), Contact (1997), The Wedding Planner (2001), Frailty (2001), Reign Of Fire (2002), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), and Failure to Launch (2006).
