Model Ana Beatriz Barros

Bio

Born in Itabira, a small town in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Ana Beatriz moved to Belo Horizonte as a baby. Her father, an engineer, then secured a better job in the city of Rio De Janeiro. Together with her parents and two sisters, she moved to and grew up there.

At the age of 14, she and elder sister were ‘discovered’ by a Director of Elite Model Management on a Rio beach. He persuaded them to enter the Elite Look of the Year contest. Ana Beatriz won the competition, and the prize of a contract with the Elite Model Agency. Accompanied by her mother, Ana moved to New York . She continued her school work by mail, only returning to Brazil for important exams.

Ana Beatriz’s first big step up the slippery model’s career ladder was when she was chosen for a Guess? campaign, shot on location in Hawaii. The campaign was widely promoted, bringing the modeling world's attention to the new face from Brazil.

Ana has gone on to feature in the editorials of lots of glossy fashion magazines, including Elle, Vogue, GQ and Bazaar. Aside from her success as a print model, Ana is much in demand on the catwalk, appearing for the likes of Christian Lacroix, Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino.

At the moment, Ana splits her time between Paris (working for Elite Model Management), and New York (working for IMG).

But what became of her elder sister, Patricia, who competed with Ana in the modeling competition? She has also succeeded as a model, albeit not quite reaching the superstar status of her sister.
