Rihanna

Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born in the parish of St Michael, in the South West corner of the Caribbean island of Barbados. She led a normal life, going to her local high school Combermere. The only sign of things to come was when she entered a beauty and talent competition at school. Her talent (naturally) was singing, and her super voice (she sung Mariah Carey's Hero) won her top prize.

Over the 2003 Christmas period, events took an unexpected turn. Evan Rogers, a New York record producer was vacationing on the island, staying at a house near Rihanna's. A mutual acquantaince brought them together, and Rihanna sung a few tunes for the (very impressed) producer. He invited Rihanna over to New York to cut some demo songs. In New York, the management of Def Jam Records quickly recognized her potential, and signed her up immediately.

Def Jam's artistic talent spotting abilities were fully proved when Rihanna's debut single 'Pon de Replay' hit number 3 in the Billboard charts. Since then, she's enjoyed a meteoric rise to success and stardom, with a string of megahit songs, like Unfaithful and Umbrella. And the videos are so hot! Rihanna shows off her super dance skills, with some very sexy moves.
