Amelie
PlotAmlie Poulain works as a waitress in a busy Montmatre caf. Amlie's endlessly daydreams - she suffered a lonely childhood with a neurotic mother and a cold father. Things are made worse when her mother dies in a freak accident.
One day, Amlie discovers an old tin box hidden behind a tile in her bathroom. The box contains a child's treasures. Amlie determines to reunite the box with its owner - who's now a grown man. She arranges for the man to 'find' his long-lost treasures. When the man is reunited with this childhood box of memories, he's overcome with emotion. Amlie sees all this and determines to organise other acts of kindness. After bringing happiness into the lives of several others, she finally remembers to try and do the same for herself.
