Field of Dreams
PlotA struggling Iowa corn farmer goes against advice and builds a baseball pitch in his field because a voice tells him 'if you build it he will come'. The spirits of long lost ball players come to play on his pitch and the character, Ray Kinsella (played by Costner) goes on a journey to find people his pitch will have particular resonance for.
This sounds weird and it is but they somehow pull it off. There's a particularly memorable performance from James Earle Jones I think.

Why in 100 Best?
Because it stays with you. It's quite an old film these days but people remember it.
