Mary Poppins
PlotLondon, 1910. Mary Poppins is sitting on a cloud, applying her make-up. Down below, we are introduced to the Banks, a well-off family - Mr Banks is a banker - but the two parents are too busy to spend any time with their children, Jane and Michael. The family nanny has just quit, because of the unruly behaviour of the youngsters.
Mr Banks puts an advertisement in the local newspaper for a new strict nanny. The children, though, have other ideas, and write their own advertisement for a fun-loving nanny. Father reads and tears up their advertisement, throwing it into the fireplace. The burning fragments float up the chimney, towards Mary Poppins. The next day several applicants for the nanny job are waiting outside the family's front door. A freak gust of wind blows them all away. Mary Poppins floats down on her umbrella, to introduce herself to Mr Banks. Mary Poppins gets the job. The family are going to have a magic time!
