Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World
PlotIt's the Napoleonic Wars. Captain Jack Aubrey, nicknamed Lucky Jack by his crew, is master of HMS Surprise, a Royal Navy frigate patrolling off the West coast of South America. When the 24-gun Surprise is badly mauled by the 44-gun French frigate Acheron, it seems that the Surprise will have to abandon its patrols. Aubrey has other ideas though. After some difficult running repairs, and despite the doubts of his friend and ship's surgeon Stephen Maturin, he orders that the Surprise should hunt out the Acheron to try and destroy it.

Why in 100 Best?
A gritty realism pervades every scene, you can almost feel the sea-spray in the air, and the wooden deck move under your feet.
