Mulholland Drive
PlotA young dark haired woman is in the back of a limo. She's almost shot by hired hit-men, but simultaneously the car is hit in a freakish accident, and she manages to escape, staggering down the hill and finding refuge in an empty house. The next day, in walks a pretty blonde actress, Betty. The young dark haired woman introduces herself as Rita. She doesn't actually know her own name - she has lost her memory as a result of the crash - but she gets the idea from a Rita Hayworth poster on the wall. Together the two women try to piece together the reasons for the previous night's events.

Why in 100 Best?
A subtle interweaving and contrasting of the harsh reality faced by the conscious mind, and the free imagination of the unconscious mind.
