Sense And Sensibility
PlotHenry Dashwood dies, bequeathing his large estate to John, the son of his first wife. His current wife, Mrs Dashwood, and her daughters Elinor, Marianne and Margaret, are left without a home, and without financial means. The situation is particular awkward for Elinor, who has an admirer in Edward Ferrars, her stepbrother. Mrs Dashwood and her three girls are invited in by some distant relations, the Middletons, at Barton Hall. Among their new neighbours are the flamboyant Willoughby, and the staid Colonel Brandon. Marianne falls headlong for Willoughby. Meanwhile Elinor discovers that Edward Ferrars is already engaged.
