Father Karras is horrified by the appalling and evil behaviour of the girl. He fears that she is possessed by a demon. Feeling out of his depth, he calls an older priest, Father Merrin, who has has experience of exorcism. The devil within Regan tests the faith of the two priests to breaking point.
