The Shawshank Redemption
PlotIt is the late 1940s. Andy Dufresne, a young professional banker, is wrongly convicted for the murder of his wife and her lover, and is sent to Shawshank prison for 2 consecutive life sentences. Prison life is initially very hard for Andy, who is beaten and raped by some brutal inmates. Eventually, though, Andy befriends 'Red', a long-time prisoner. 'Red' has street-cred, and fixes it so Andy is ignored by the low-life convicts. The prison warden learns of Andy's money skills, and uses him to help in his illicit money-laundering scam. Many years pass. A new prisoner comes to Shawshank, and tells Andy he has information which could help him gain a re-trial. The warden has the new prisoner killed, so as to hold onto Andy's accounting skills. All hope seems lost. Andy, though, has had a lot of time to think of other plans.
