Lake Louise, AlbertaDescription Situated in Banff national park, the small village of Lake Louise is surrounded by absolutely magnificent scenery. The ski area is vast, and there are runs to suit just about everybody, with a choice from easy to very hard from every chairlift. The huge back bowls offer great steeps, and exhilarating powder. If you're into snowboarding, head to the great free ride park with half-pipe just next to the base station. There is only a small amount of accommodation near to the skiing area. This includes the famous Fairmont Chateau just across the valley - which offers a complementary shuttle service to the resort. But most people stay in Banff, about 30mins drive away. |

Why in 100 Best? Great skiing amidst terrific scenery, but wrap up warm as it can be very cold in mid-winter. |
